More treasure. More calm. More, please.
I think everyone is looking for something.
We all want more out of life. And in our Americanized society, the 'want' is money. Or power. Or fame. Or love. And money. And all these things we desire keep us busy. Constantly busy.
But it's so much deeper than that, and so much more innate that. And the same longing that Christians have is the same longing that fame-seekers and money-hoarders have; we just don't realize it.
Christians and non-Christians alike want more. We are all humans created in the image of our Father and created for an eternity in relationship. And that's what we desire, whether we know it or not.
Well, I've been back in the States for almost 2 weeks--and I'm already antsy! I'm longing for another adventure! (feel free to *roll your eyes* at me) In addition to that desire, I've been constantly longing for more in my life. Am I doing enough to help change the world? Am I doing enough to be successful? Am I doing enough to maintain the relationships that I treasure most? Sometimes I'm just not sure...it's like I'm continually searching for something I can't ever reach...
But then the Lord speaks to me. And He says,
And so with that reminder, I search for my treasure. I seek out my Lord. And I know that I don't have to 'do enough' or 'be enough' to bask in the joy of finding the treasure that we all long for.
Even in the midst of trial, the treasure of God can create a calm. If you run to Him, all the things that we think we want will lessen and His calm will be fulfilling.
I hope you each know this day that His peaceful calmness is ever-ready for you and that you can have more. So so much more than money, success, or busyness...or an adventure. You'll have a priceless treasure that fills you with peace and takes you to places you never had a longing for--because you didn't know your heart even desired them.
