Xan turns 11!
I can't even believe Little Man is 11.
When I first met him, he was 6 years old. And he turned 11 in September... I've known Xander almost half of his entire life! Cue the tears.
I am so so proud of Xan in so many ways. He is mature, he is smart. He is curious and he loves to dig into the details of things. He asks the BEST and most insightful questions of any young person I've ever met... He's fun and always up for anything. He's kind, especially to kids younger than himself. He listens to the "whys" in life and soaks them in; I pray that is a trait that will lend him to making wise decisions in his life, rather than having an attitude simply having to following rules. He loves waffles. He loves dancing, particularly Fortnite dances. He was the hit entertainment at Goran and Heather's wedding. :) He reeeally hates mosquitoes! He loves hot chocolate -- but milk-chocolate-hot-chocolate, nothing fancy pants. He tries new and different foods almost every single time he's with us, thanks to his daddy, and he usually loves what he tries! He has such a good memory, and remembers small things about people! Xan pays attention in church and often asks questions reflective of what was being talked about. In his year 10, he went up and prayed by himself! for the communion during Big Church! He adores Josh Dowell, and basically spent all of Family Camp attached to his hip. Those two prayed over communion at Family Camp together for everyone. Blu and I couldn't be more thankful that Josh is Xan's official mentor. Xan is insightful (I already mentioned it, I know, but it makes my heart sing) and wonders about Heaven and Hell and how I lived life after Mom died and how he can be excited about something without letting it control him or constantly take over his thoughts. He is welcoming of all people and is excited to see whoever he loves, no matter how good or bad they are or whether he saw them yesterday or 5 years ago. He comes to find me in the Youth Space every Sunday after class. He is so creative and I love his random, last minute ideas of things to make: spooky mug out of clay, Oreo shake, brownies with extra chocolate chips, melted starburst candy to go in school supply dispensers.
This guy.
For real.
For his 11th birthday, we took an overnight trip to Lubbock and had so much fun! We went to the apple orchard and picked our own apples and we ate yummy food and ice cream, and we went to an Escape Room which Xan loved! Then we had a family and friends party and it was Guardians of the Galaxy themed. I wanted to make the cake.... which was an experience. Haha It was supposed to be a galactic cake. I even did a trial run! I thought it was a disaster but it doesn't look too terrible in pictures. Chelsea and Cole helped out with the party so much! We had a station to make makes of the GotG characters. We played a game of popping balloons with various body parts which would eventually determine if the galaxy was safe or destroyed. We played glow in the dark GaGa ball. He got a hoverboard (which he loves), and a kit to shoot off a rocket, and some legos, and a camo knife pen! It was a joy to celebrate him -- for everyone involved.
Onto year 11.
But 10, you were a gem.
I love you, Xan!!!
