Betrothed
Betrothed.
That word takes one a whole new meaning when you are actually experiencing it!
I am officially betrothed to my Love, and he to me.
It's so exciting! I am loving this time in my life. I'm loving wedding planning, I'm loving all the congratulations and all the newness of our engagement, I'm loving looking forward to October 24th, I'm loving living the transition from independence to preparing for marriage. These are very special months and I won't have them for long! I'm determined to appreciate this time and
cherish it while I can.
However, I also don't want to be engaged forever. It's almost like a state of limbo. You're not quite a single person, but you're not fully "one with another" either. You're...waiting. A beautiful waiting, indeed. But a waiting that was not designed to be the final destination.

As a young man marries a young woman, so will your Builder marry you;
as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you.
Isaiah 62:5
as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you.
Isaiah 62:5
Marriage is designed to be a reflection of our God's love for His church, for His people. He is the bridegroom and His church is the bride. We are betrothed to our God! He wants us. He desires us. He has sacrificed for us. And we are destined to be His, if we say "yes" to Him!
For Christians who have declared our lives to be God-honoring, we are engaged to an amazing bridegroom and our life on earth is our period of engagement. It can be so beautiful and so full of joy, as God intends life to be! But this life is not the final destination. Thank goodness!! We are not to be engaged forever, but rather we have a far grander Wedding Day to look forward to...when we are made completely perfect for our God and when we are reconciled with Him and He rejoices over us!
Sounds good, doesn't it.
Sounds good, doesn't it.
In the meantime, though, what happens during this "betrothal on earth" we are invited to be a part of?
One thing for sure is that God pursues us. He never ceases to chase after our hearts. He's relentless in His dating. How I wish we would more often take a deep breath and relish in the love of our bridegroom's beautiful persistence!
And also, we have our own duties to attend to. We prepare. We tune our hearts to His, we eagerly await Him, we follow His path and instruction, and we make His church as big as possible!

For, this will be a GRAND wedding. A celebration like no other.
As Christians, we should be squirming in our britches because of engagement-joy, and we should be not able to contain our excitement because of the promise of a beautiful wedding day!
I so look forward to October 24th with Blu!
But my....how I cannot WAIT for eternity with the Lord and all His beloved.

WE NEED A NEW BLOG ENTRY FROM THE WEDDING!!!!
