Allurement in Action
So. I tried something new recently.
Anyway. I guess you could say that recently....I have been intrigued.
Since we humans are made directly in the image of our Creator, we are utterly fascinating. I've always known that, but have just never had the desire to capture that fascination. Until now.
First things first. I thought I would branch out to see if I could even DO such a task at all! Who knows if I'm even good at it?!
Photographing people is so different from photographing settings -- I wouldn't say that it was harder, because I challenge myself in creating unique photographic art -- but I would definitely say that it is so so different.
So in trying my hand at this, my official goal is to portray people naturally. I'm such a huge proponent of "natural" in my life anyway, that this just fits me. I think my mommy instilled with me a value for natural things from a young age -- I super appreciate that.
I want to capture people's stories, personalities, and natural selves with minimal editing. (Editing is so "easy" these days with all the available and accessible technology -- almost anyone could take a crappy photo and make it neat with lots of editing. For me, that takes away from the raw beauty and purpose of a freeze frame.) Adding some effects and cleaning the photo up a bit is wonderful, usually essential, & fun; yet I still hope that the art of my pictures comes directly from the capture.
And so. My first trial run! Take a gander and share in the experience with us:
I absolutely loved photographing these kids. Not only are they stinkin' adorable but the whole family is precious to me, which makes it all the better!! I will always cherish this time with them.
And -- I am pretty pleased with how the photos turned out, capturing those fun & sweet little spirits!
....maybe I'll keep it up??
Those who know me know that I love photography. Granted, I'm still very much an amateur but I've been enamored by capturing moments through freeze-frame for about 10 years now. (Whoa -- a decade! Seems so long now that I verbalize, er, depict that little fact.) But also, those who know me, know that the type of photography I'm drawn to is scenery/architecture/settings. I can't help it. I love wandering around this world and seeing things in a new light, observing places with a different perspective, looking for the beauty in the smallest stationary things.
I have never been drawn to photograph people.
Why??
I don't know.
I just haven't. It's on the list of "things that don't intrigue me" right there along with owning an aquarium, doing a triathlon, and being a boy scout.
Yep. That's right.Anyway. I guess you could say that recently....I have been intrigued.
