The art of pursuing

Pursuit is something that's really been on my heart lately.

Pursuit in the English language means "to chase" or "to follow".  It's encompassed by "persistence".  Pursuit is deliberate and pursuit is motivated by passion.

Pursuit is pretty incredible.

Everyone knows the Coyote and the Roadrunner, right?!
The Coyote never gave up in his relentless chase of the Roadrunner (poor Roadrunner).  The Coyote was always there, at every turn, in every new place.  He may have had selfish motivations, but his pursuit was obvious and let's be honest -- impressive.  The sheer intent of the Coyote to not ever give up is admirable.

The Princess Bride has it's 25th anniversary this year.  Male and female alike, how can you NOT love this movie?!  Through the kidnapping of his "twue wove", Wesley went to extensive lengths to get her back.  But then when Wesley could physically do no more, the princess reversed the roles and pursued her own rescuer.  How often does that happen?!

Hosea -- chapter 3.
Really, the entire Old Testament is a testimony of the love & wrath of a God whose people are unfaithful and then brought back to the bosom of their Lord.  Hosea himself is instructed to devote himself to a woman who runs away from the kind pursuit of her husband.  Pursuit scares her.
How Hosea remains faithful to his own persistence is only stemming from a passion for his God.

Where are we, as the Lord's children, in this mix?  How does a pooch, a princess, and a prophet affect our lives?  I think those are the very questions that God's placed on my heart recently and He's whispering answers....

I AM says that His chase after our souls is relentless.  He'll never quit.  The Almighty will show up at every turned-corner of our lives; He's apparent in every place.  And He's intent on winning-over our hearts.
I AM says that He'll do anything and already has done everything to bring us back to Him.  He wants to rescue us with a freedom found only in love.
I AM says that He's devoted to the seemingly very least of His children.  He already knows we are scared, lost, and unfaithful.  Yet His passion for us overshadows any fear that wagers in our minds.

I AM is the embodiment of pursuit
And it's incredible

I praise His name for this knowledge...but what I've been learning recently has taken this a step further for me.  What if we pursue the One who is eternally pursing us?  What would that look like?  What if we overcame any fear or inadequacy and chased after our rescuer?  Imagine it.  Picture it.  Try to feel it.  A grand collision would happen in our lives and it would be too big, too important, and too magnificent to ever turn back to who we were before.

And so I am attempting the incredible.  I am pursuing the heart of the One pursuing me.
Pray for me.
Join me.
